Discriminating ideology

Okay, I need to make a statement here. I can’t believe that many citizens of this country can be so blind. Wasn’t it President Bush who said after September 11, 2001 that not all Moslems are terrorists? I agree, as there are many Moslem-Americans that subscribe to the ideals of this country. Now we’ve decided to lash out at the French because the French government does not support the war in Iraq. So now we’re saying all French people are bad? Hey, that’s just like those in other countries stereotyping all of us Americans because we like to go into other countries, oust an existing despotic regime, and replace the government with a democracy, much to the chagrin of the citizens. I don’t see Germany supporting US actions either. Does that mean I should view all of my friends that are of German-descent as anti-American as well (I’ll need to remember this the next time I receive e-mail from certain friends)? As far as I’m concerned, if I want bread soaked in egg and fried, I’m still calling it French Toast. We all have our own opinions, and that’s a right granted to us in the First Amendment as well as the Declaration of Independence (yes, those inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness). If you don’t like people that don’t support the US, you’re in the wrong country! This country was built on pluralism, meaning that the variety of beliefs and ideas keeps us vibrant and updated. Let’s not forget who bailed us out some over 200 years ago when we wanted independence from Britain (for those who’ve forgotten your American history, it was the French). Now for those of you that buy Chinese-made products, think about who you’re supporting!

Okay, I’m off my soapbox… now onto my news. Although I didn’t accomplish any of the work on this site that I expected to finish last weekend, I managed to make some changes to My Bio, especially in Family, Employment, and Hobbies. After reviewing my initial draft for the new Soapbox article, I chose to scrap it and start over (same topic, different focus). I plan on working on it over the next couple of weeks.

This week, I will begin to work on two operating budget reviews. As you may remember, I was assigned the Division of Business Management only a couple of months ago. This will be my first crack at its operating budget. I’m both eager and scared (I don’t want to mess it up). I’m sure I’ll do fine. I also have to review State Patrol’s budget (my original assignment). I’m aware of some of their issues, but I need to review some other areas of its budget.
