Metallica movie finally released here

Friday, September 3rd, 2004

After waiting nearly two months, I finally saw Metallica - Some Kind of Monster. It was well worth the wait. I’m so inspired that I’m on my way to writing another soapbox article… I’m long overdue for one. So, as an added bonus, I am also working on a soapbox article about my last days at DOT. It’s officially done, and I’m looking forward to a long weekend to prepare myself for a great career move to DATCP.

New e-mail form, more site progress

Wednesday, September 1st, 2004

I can’t remember the last time I was this active with this site. After creating a form for people to use so that they can e-mail me, I learned that there is another way to set it up so it looks better in the user’s browser. I started playing around with this, but I haven’t decided if I want to activate it now or wait until the new site is up.

Meanwhile, work continues on the new site as I continue to migrate articles. It’s not going as well as I expected, due to formatting issues. I was considering getting the new site up and running soon, but a new position and other timing may delay me to later this year or early next year.

My coworkers put together a going-away party for me today. I was really happy to see many people show up from around the Department. Many of them provided food and great conversation. I also received a great card, signed by everyone in my office, and a gift card for Best Buy. Then there was the barnyard animal toys as a gag gift… it was cute. My former supervisor suggested that I purchase ESPN NFL 2K5 for the Xbox, since it’s really exciting and it costs about $30 less than Madden NFL 2005. I’m still debating, but I may follow his recommendation (I’ve added to my Xbox page). At any rate, I really will miss working with such a great group of people, and I am grateful that I was given this opportunity to get my feet wet in public service. The skills I learned will continue to help me as I keep working for the state.

Finally, I made some updates to my Computer Security article. With the release of Windows XP Service Pack 2, I felt that I had to give Microsoft some credit for diligently testing and releasing a host of security updates that will hopefully benefit everyone that downloads and uses them.
